The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Ogun State Friday asked its accredited Integrity Test Consultants on the need to adhere to stipulated guidelines of the department in order or risk being blacklisted.
Operations Controller, Muinat Bello-Zagi gave the advice during a meeting with the consultants at the DPR office.
According to her, the purpose of the meeting was to cross check and re-examine the methodologies and equipment being used by these consultants to test tanks at gas and petroleum facilities.
She said that the DPR would not endorse any integrity test carried out without the presence of a representative of the Department.
She disclosed that since the inception of DPR Abeokuta Field Office in 2017, several applications filed by the consultants on behalf of petroleum and gas facility owners had been turned down as a result of absence of DPR officials at such tests.
“We need to know if they’re on the right track as regards the testing. The purpose of the integrity test is to know if the tank can withstand the pressure that would be introduced into it.
“For new tanks, we advise the pressure and the leak test and for old tanks, the leak test is advised.
“These are some of the things we’rehere to tell them and any consultant who does not adhere to instructions will be blacklisted,” she said.
Bello-Zagi, explained further that the components of integrity test, particularly pressure and leak tests, were very critical to ensure quality and safety, insisting the DPR must always be carried along by the consultants on their activities.
