TGS COUNTRY MANAGER VISITS NUPRC TO ANNOUNCE MERGER WITH PGS

Wale Oyetoran, Country Manager for TGS Nigeria, visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in Abuja to inform the Commission’s Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, of the merger between TGS and PGS.

Effective from Monday, July 1st, 2024, the merger aims to enhance data capabilities, provide cutting-edge data acquisition technology, and offer advanced data processing and imaging. The combined expertise and innovation are expected to facilitate the energy transition and uphold a commitment to sustainability and safety.

Oyetoran assured that the agreements and permits held by TGS, including those from the former company, would continue without affecting existing agreements with the NUPRC. The newly merged entity will retain the TGS name but will be rebranded.

Under the Petroleum Industry Act (2021), TGS-Petrodata Offshore Services Limited, one of the TGS companies registered in Nigeria, received the first Petroleum Exploration Licence (PEL). Approximately 12,000 square kilometers of 3D seismic/gravity data were acquired in 2023 and are still being processed to support licensing rounds and exploration in Nigeria
