Accredited Integrity Test Consultants of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), have been charged to adhere strictly to stipulated safety guidelines of the Department, while carrying out tests for petroleum and gas retailers.
The Operations Controller, Abeokuta Field Office, Muinat Bello-Zargi, gave the charge on Thursday, during a meeting with the consultants, held at DPR Office, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The Controller, who equally, told the consultants that the purpose of the meeting was to cross check and re-examine their methodologies and equipment, said DPR would not endorse any integrity tests carried out without the representative of the Department.
She disclosed that since the inception of the Abeokuta Field Office in 2017, several applications filed by the consultants on behalf of petroleum and gas facility owners, had been turned down as a result of absence of DPR officers at such tests.
Bello-Zargi, explained further that the components of integrity test, particularly pressure and leak tests, were very critical to ensure quality and safety, insisting the DPR must always be carried along by the consultants on their activities.
She noted that to ensure quality assurance, test results should be printed out immediately and endorsed by three parties, which listed as facility owner, consultant and DPR representative.
She, however, assured the consultants of the Department’s readiness to provide assistance where needed, submitting that quality assurance and safety should always be their focus and concern.
