As part of its ongoing CSR initiative, some DPR officials were recently in Gbara Community Senior & Junior Secondary School, Jakande-Lekki Lagos, to give career talks spanning various discipline; including engineering, technology, mathematics and law.
The talks were targeted at the graduating classes of JS3 and SS3 students. For the SS3 students to equip them with information needed to make career choices as they prepare for higher education. The talks also aimed at enabling the JS3 class to grapple with challenges that come with adolescence. The students were counseled on social issues, including sexual molestation, drugs and substance abuse. Participating students were receptive and enthusiastic in all the sessions.
The recent exercise was a continuation of the initiative DPR started 2013 when Gbara Community Senior & Junior Secondary School was adopted as the focal point in its CSR outreach, in partnership with the ‘Adopt-a-School’ programme of Lagos State Government.
The Department had previously donated some essential items to the school, including text books, computer hardware and accessories, and electric generating sets.
