The selection panel of the 2017 edition of the Nigerian Safety and Security Awards (NSAS)/Lecture Series organized by Safety & Security Watch Magazine has awarded the Department of Petroleum Resources the “Outstanding Safety Merit Award (Oil & Gas)”.
The Awards/Lecture Series held recently at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of activities to commemorate the ILO 2017 “World Day for Safety and Health at Work”. The award is in recognition of DPR’s outstanding safety and security records in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry.
A panel session was organized during the event, and safety and security experts shared professional insights on critical safety and security issues, with emphasis on data acquisition, and it was themed “OPTIMIZING COLLECTION & USE OF OSH (OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH) DATA TO STRENGTHEN THE FOUNDATIONS OF A PREVENTION CULTURE”.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Director of petroleum Resources, Mr. Mordecai Danteni Baba Ladan was the Head of Safety, Health & Environment Division, Mrs. Cordelia Onyebuchi Sibeudu who led the DPR delegation to the award ceremony.
Mrs. Sibeudu thanked the organizers for the recognition and encouragement to individuals and corporate organizations in the area of safety and security, and also used the opportunity to educate participants on the numerous tools, information and data available to users on the DPR website.
Responding on behalf of Safety & Security Watch Magazine, Dr. Amaechi Chinyere, Editor Safety & Security Watch Magazine congratulated the DPR for the Award and for the good safety and security record and successes achieved so far in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry. She encouraged the Department to do more in the implementation of government safety and security policies across board and to ensure global best practices and standards are continually upheld by operators in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector.
