The hall was full to its capacity and the venue was Etsu NUPE International Centre, Doko International Hotel, Minna- Niger State. The theme of the AGM was Safe Operations and Regulatory Compliance in the Oil and Gas Industry.
In his address, the Operations Controller, Minna Field Office, Engr. Abdullahi Isah Jankara thanked all the participants for honouring our invitation. He reiterated the importance of the meeting and further explained why the theme for the 2019 AGM was ‘safe operations in the oil and gas industry.’ He said DPR must do everything within its statutory power to ensure safety and decorum in the oil sector.
Some of the successes recorded in 2019 are:
1- Available of Petroleum products- no scarcity.
2- Bida basin radiometric survey sensitisation awareness
3- Products diversion has been reduced drastically
4- Increased awareness on safe Operations
5- Reduction in cases of pump under dispensing
6- Increase in license renewals
The Opscon said despite above achievements, there are challenges. These challenges are part of the reasons why this meeting was arranged. He urged all participants to make positive contributions that would pave way for collective ideas which will eventually help in moving the sector forward.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello was out of the country. He was represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Niger State Ministry of Mineral Resources, Mr. Daniel Sunday Kolo. In his speech, he cautioned tanker drivers against rough driving, over loading and incessant parking on the highway. He reiterated that over loading is one of the reasons why our roads are terribly bad. He said government will continue to do everything possible within its limited resources to ensure enabling environment for lives to be protected and for businesses to strive. He thanked Engr. A.J. Isah for organising this knowledge driven meeting
Meaningful input and goodwill messages were received from Zopscon Abuja represented by Engr. Mohammed Zangi, Zopscon Kaduna represented by Engr. Paul Jehzi and Opscon Abeakuta represented by Mr. Lazarus Okeke. Other contributors were the DSS, FRSC, NSCDC, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Police etc.

The 2019 AGM safety brief was conducted by Mr. Zakaria Abdullahi Isah. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Zeenat Aliyu Musa while the vote of thanks was given by the Head of Human Resources, Dalhat Hassan Dalhat.
The meeting was insightful, analytical, robust and highly educative. Certificates of attendance were issued to each and every participants
The meeting came to an end at about 1400hrs with plenty to eat and drink
